Wet Pipe Fire Sprinklers

A ‘Wet’ sprinkler system is a system where all the pipe work is permanently charged with water and is used in areas where freezing is not a risk i.e. areas where the temperature will not drop below 5 deg C. Likewise they should not be designed within areas where the temperature could exceed 70 deg C.

Wet systems are the most preferential type of system as they discharge quicker than ‘Dry’ or ‘Pre-action’ systems with water being put on to the fire immediately.

Typical uses for Wet systems are commercial and industrial systems for i.e. shops, restaurants, schools, hospitals, factories, offices as well as residential and domestic properties.

Wet pipe fire sprinklers are very reliable, and affordable to maintain or repair.  They are water-based and are usually fed by dedicated water storage tanks or towns main supplies but can also be fed by inexhaustible supplies such as canals or reservoirs.

All sprinkler systems require regular testing and routine maintenance to ensure that they are operating correctly which in turn will minimise the Weekly tests of alarm signals and pump operation should be carried out by the client, however quarterly testing and bi-annual maintenance should be carried out by a competent sprinkler company as well as inspections, all as per BSEN12845 TB203.

25 Year inspections should be carried out on all systems 25 years or older.  We can provide this service.

Fire sprinkler systems should be installed, serviced, and maintained by actively licensed fire sprinkler companies in the UK.
